How to Tell if a Diamond is Real with a Black Light
How can you tell a real diamond from a fake diamond?
To determine if your diamond is real, hold a magnifying glass up and look at a diamond through the glass. Look for imperfections within the stone. If you’re unable to find any, then the diamond is most likely fake. Real diamonds have imperfections referred to as inclusions.
Can you see through a real diamond?
A real diamond will not allow you to see through it at all, while you can see lettering or parts of the paper with a fake diamond. A possible exception to this would be emerald or low cut diamonds. Another trick to determine the veracity of a diamond is to check its hardness.
How big is a 12 point diamond?
A 12 pt. diamond is a 0.12 carat diamond, which is pretty small. Look closely at the diamond and you’ll see that it’s yellow tinted and probably an Imperfect3 clarity stone (assuming, of course, that it’s real). The real James Bond doesn’t go shopping on ebay for such a diamond.
