There are three basic measurements needed to determine the replacement chain. The first is the pitch, or the distance between drive lugs on the chain and it determines whether the chain will fit the sprocket. Most saws use 0.325″, 3/8″, or 0.404″ pitch, with 1/4″ less common. Most consumer saws use a type of 3/8″ chain called “low profile”.
